Choosing
the right guide or angling destination can way on one's mind when the rarest
of resources like time and money are at
stake.
Bone Cove Angler likes to recognize the choicest
guides that put angler's on fish each time
they take a party out fishing. We
determine the quality of the fishing provided by these guides by a strict
practice of experiencing it first hand. That is to say we call
them, book a trip and go fishing. It is important to know that you are
going to experience a trip of a lifetime when you take the time, money and
effort to hire a professional guide or outfitter. This is why we make
the effort to field test, before hand, what can be expected when you book a
trip. This page
is dedicated to those guide's who delivery a quarry of fish each time they
leave the dock. So now, you, the angler, can benefit from what we at
Bone Cove Angler already have experienced and know to be true.
Today,
Bone Cove Angler links you back to the Hang Loose Lodge. We first
visited this place back in autumn of 2001 during a time of unrest.
However, the lodge proved to live by it's name as we relaxed, satisfied our
angst to catch quality fish and kicked back with fine food, drink and good
company.
We venture back to the Hang Loose Lodge because all the great places beckon us
to return. In fact, the gracious owner himself, John "Hang Loose" Hynes
is host to the annual
Hang Loose Lodge
Bone Cove Angler Biggest Baddest Bass Invitational.
The 1st Annual Hang
Loose Lodge Bone Cove Angler Biggest Baddest Bass Invitational -
June 24, 2005
The inaugural event took place on June 24, 2005.
Choice anglers from the tri-state
area were hand selected and invited to participate for
thousands of dollars in purse money. It was a one day contest. The
biggest, baddest bass boated wins the event for one skilled and lucky angler.

The 2nd Annual Hang Loose Lodge Bone Cove Angler Biggest Baddest Bass Invitational - June 3, 2006

The 2nd Annual HLL BCA B3 is complete.
Photos above show this years action that
came down to the wire with photo finishes
and a
few scales mixed in to determine the
Biggest Baddest Bass. Unfortunately
not all photos have been submitted for
posting so Dave, Chris and Tom are not
represented with their catches (and Jeff
just didn't catch anything).
In Short... The morning was pissing rain
(literally) and should have been a numbers
game as most anglers caught numbers of bass
in the
50's. Two plus pounders were claimed
to be the largest landed in the AM. A 2.5
by HL near the damn dam and a 2 pound Small
Mouth by PVO near the boat house.
The afternoon catch produced three 3 plus
pounders by three different anglers in a
matter of 33 minutes in three different
areas that were 30 yards from each other.
Wow!. And need I remind you that the date
was June 3rd. HL went through three
different scales to register his 3-Pound
Bass, Cottam used his $3,000 digital scale,
calibrated to 3/3,000th of an ounce to
register a 3.1 pound bass. The decision
came when a 3.5 pound bass was boated by PVO
III. Three, three pound bass boated by
three different anglers some time after 3pm
on June 3rd decided this years Biggest
Baddest Bass competition.
Thanks to John and all you willing
participants!

The 3rd Annual Hang Loose Lodge Bone Cove Angler Biggest Baddest Bass Invitational - June 23, 2007
HLLBCABBBI –
III
Another tourney in the
books at the Hang Loose Lodge... From all accounts it seemed like a
numbers game again this year.
The largest fished
landed, nearly 4 lbs, was by Jay Alleborn. However, it was caught
on Friday evening. Sorry Jay. Like we said, you shot your load too
early. Nice fish though!
The tourney proved to
be a game of ounces once again with lots of the bigger fish caught in
the upper 2 pound range. All of the reports gathered were fish in the
2.5 to 2.14 range except for the one 3.2 pound, 18 inch fish caught by
the elder Pat O’Hara. Congratulations to Mr. O’Hara on winning the 2007
Biggest Baddest Bass Invitational!
After three years
Chris Johnson still holds the tournament and HLL record bass of 6.5
pounds. Chris, how do we catch the lunkers out of Robinson Pond?
Other high-lights of
the weekend (which still remains a blur to me) include:
Water Boys and Broken
Gear:
Stella! Stella!!
Dave Cottam took a dive into the lake to recover his Stella. He was
successful. Apparently Dave did not trust his depth finder and used his
rod to determine the water depth. It slipped out of his hand and Dave
went swimming.
Too many beers, a
misplaced tackle box and a boat can be good cause for a swim. Greg
Dawson and Geoff Parr both took a dive when someone lost their balance
and flipped Greg’s John-Boat. All possessions were recovered (I think).
Pat O’Hara (Mr.
O’Hara) dropped the crank of his reel off the dock and jumped in on a
recon mission to recover it, however the deep soot of the lake swallowed
it forever.
Jeff
Alleborn purchased a Berkley Lightning Rod in Florida back in 1994.
The rod stayed with him through 13 years of many quality fish including
an 8 pound lunker caught in Lake Tarpon, FLA. Well this rod saw
it's end with a tremendous hook set into a dock. Spider wire, too
many beers
and too much muscle were no match for the classic Berkley Lightning Rod.
Roy, God of Thunder
Snore:
A group of 15 men in a
cabin can really make some noise at night. But, Roy Kelly wins hands
down with his unique ability to suck all of the oxygen out of the house
in a rumbling, thunderous snore.
Food and Beverage:
Phil Battaglino proved
the best dish was his own blends of marinade soaked long into the meats
of "Flank Steaks Especiales"
that go excellent with a single malt scotch and a fine cigar! I think everyone uttered
the words, “Damn, that’s _ _ _ _ _ _ _ good steak!”. Jim Brogan brought
another good dish of his wife’s Sausage and Peppers that again, did not
last long. O’Hara had the dumb ass idea of grilling a stringer of some
Robinson Pond Perch that no one sampled. Anyway nice catch Tom! As
always the beer was flowing.
Bon Fire BS:
Friday night proved to
be consistent with previous years as the beer and bullshit flowed well
into the morning hours when the last of us went to bed at 4 a.m. to the
roars of snores and flatulence. Saturday we stayed up until 1 a.m.
before retiring to the same. Stories from Mexico to the weekend events
carried long into the night with the songs of feeding Coyotes in the
distance.
Sunday Morning:
Where did everyone
go? No time to download? First light and gone… Until next year men…
THANK YOU ALL FOR PARTICIPATING! HL closes the weekend with the Pipes (video
clip attached).
Thanks again!

See Jay Alleborn in action as he lands the Big One on the wrong
day...
Ouch!
The 4th Annual Hang Loose Lodge Bone Cove Angler Biggest Baddest Bass Invitational -
May 31, 2008

Four years returning
to the HLL for the annual event and 2008 proved to be as good as the
previous weekends of years past. The weather cooperated except for
a slight interruption of late afternoon monstrous thunderstorms
that sent anglers scurrying home for cover and burgers. Jay
Allebron had some troubles with equipment (lost 2 rods to the lake) and
equilibrium (canoe + standing + beer + tree branch = water). Dan
Allocca finally made his return after a 2 year departure and gave the
field a run for their money with an over 3 pound fish as did Dave
Cottam. The first annual winner Chris Johnson came up 2nd with a
3.3 pound bass and Jim Brogan was in the running with a 3.2 pound
largemouth. Jeff Alleborn managed a few in the 2 plus pound range
as did Pat O'Hara and John "Hang Loose" Hynes. But, it all came
down to PhillyBatts who took home the booty with an almost 4lb. bass and
an over 6lb. pickerel.
Good food, good booze, good
company, good times, great place... Thanks for the laughter boys!
See you all for the milestone 5th annual tourny in spring of 2009.
Below from left to right the
2008 Crew: Pat O'Hara, Jim Brogan, Jay Alleborn, Hang Loose,
PhillyBatts, Dan Allocca, Jeff Alleborn, Chris Johnson and not pictured
